I left TCS after two months of joining as a fresher. I got a mail regarding final settlement to pay the bond amount of 48,000. Should I pay it?

Although bonds per se are illegal, but companies frame it as training costs which they can legally recover from you. So labour laws(which although doesnt apply here) doesnt come into play,Contract Act does.Since a person has agreed to serve the company for a specified period after their training period, the company can recover training costs. And this can be enforced in courts. I would also point out here that companies put a specific clause about Arbitration and Conciliation Act,which effectively waives their right to reach out to courts in case of breach of contracts..
However,in IT/ITeS sector abandonment is not uncommon and hence legal department doesnt pay much heed to these cases. Also when a person is leaving the company, they are leaving their separation benefits too which almost even out the training costs.
Also my personal advice is if you want to stay in IT sector,do not get blacklisted from a big company like TCS,you may regret that later in life. If you still have not left the job, resign following the due procedure and get officially relieved.
In short,no there will be no serious issues apart from you getting blacklisted from TCS for life. NSR is not a universal thing as of now, some companies follow, others dont.
