How do I explain to someone why a high end smartphone is better than a cheap smartphone?

There's a crowd of good answers here. So, for fun, I'll toss in my two cents:

1) I have a Samsung Galaxy S2. It was a great phone, but I didn't want to pay for a data plan so I had to:

2) Buy a Motorola MOTO X to sign up for a Talk & Text only plan. The MOTO X was a better phone because it cost me $10/Mo instead of the S2's $50/Mo. (It also has a nicer camera, but that wasn't why I purchased the phone.)

3) My SO has an even better phone (according to her) because her Blackberry has a physical keyboard!

4) And my favorite phone, now no longer ready for (cheap WiFi) Prime Time is a Palm Treo650.

So, better is totally subjective. ... By the way, about that S2. I docked it & it's now one of the best (the ultimate better) clock radios that I have ever owned.
