Why do very few people use Windows Phones? Why is Android more popular?

This question has probably been on most of the people's
mind (if i am not wrong :-p) since Nokia released its first smart phone. Many people feel that Android is better.
I however would prefer Windows Phone over android. Mainly because It's design is simple, awesome, and with the recent live tile options(available in most Lumia phones) it has become more fun to use, plus in addition to that it has most of the important apps. However, being honest to your question:
I think that Windows Phone is only viable for someone who doesn't care about apps, it is for someone who appreciates what their phone does, how it looks, but is not necessarily concerned with having the latest apps that all their friends or people around them have.
Windows uses Internet Explorer as its browser. It's pretty good, but probably not as visually appealing as Chrome for Android is.
Obviously the app store on WP isn't as big as Android, so it will have less games and apps . But, recently windows market place has included about 150000+ apps, that include many HD games, music apps etc. Comparatively, it has a better battery backup than android. And a super sensitive touch(Now you can touch your phone even with your gloves on) . Plus a branded carl zeiss lens is fitted in most of the Lumia phones that gives us a picture perfect click.
But as mentioned earlier, I would recommend it, ONLY to those people  that don't care about having the newest apps, or if they don't mind being different. It seems that nowadays everyone wants an iPhone or an Android because that's what everyone else has.
Moreover, Android being an open source project, virus malware maker can easily develop viruses.
Windows  Phone is relatively safer and unique, so if you don't mind having a unique and awesome phone, then WP might be for you. Windows Phone is often underestimated if you ask me. If you're interested, try it. I did and I am really liking the experience. :-)
