There are lot of paid and free tools that you can use while performing SEO for your website. I
will list down my top 11 tools below.
  1. Screaming Frog:- This is a paid tool, but if your website has less than 500 URLs you can use its trail/free version too. Mainly Screaming Frog is used for crawling through out the website. Very useful to get all broken links and meta data present on the site.
  2. Xenu:- Another web crawling tool, best thing about XENU is, its a free tool. Crawls your website but gives you little less information than what Screaming Frog offers. Helps you find broken links and errors present on your webpages.
  3. URL Profiler:- Amazing tool for content audit. Gives you all kind of data, be it URL level, Google Analytics, Pagespeed or Content Analysis. Efficient and effective way to use URL Profiler is by combining the data of Screaming Frog and URL profiler to generate a best report for your website. This report will have almost everything you to have a look while doing any SEO work.
  4. Google Search Console:- Also known as Google Webmaster's tool (GWT). Its a free tool provided by Google. Very helpful tool when it comes to indexing your all pages, finding all kind of issues with Google recommendations, duplication and broken pages. I would say this one is a must. Easy to use and very informative.
  5. Google Analytics:- This one is also a free tool provided by Google to monitor your website traffic and users. Gives you good amount of information and idea about which section of your website is performing or not.
  6. Majestic SEO:- This tool is a paid tool, very handy in figuring out what kind of backlinks you are getting on your website with all those anchor texts. Helps you with backlink clean up and if used effectively, it can improve your website ranking or uplift penalty from Google.
  7. SemRush:- Also a paid tool, provides you all kind of information about any website. Mainly considered while performing competitor analysis. Gives you traffic data, keyword data, competitors list and number of backlinks your competitors are getting.
  8. Ahref:- Similar to Majestic SEO tool I would say. Provides you little less backlink data than Majestic. Mostly helpful with baclink clean up and competitors analysis.
  9. BuzzSumo:- Another paid tool which is handy and gives very useful data. It will let you see/compare your most shared content with that of competitors. Gives you good information such as; count of social shares and your top shared pages across the social sites.
  10. Google PageSpeed Insights:- This is a free web tool, provided by Google. PageSpeed Insights tool provides you all kind information of information associated with PageSpeed. Mainly it runs 10 tests on your page to determine whether the page is passing all these PageSpeed parameters or not. If passed, you have good PageSpeed if not it will list out every suggestions and recommendations to deal with the issue.
  11. Google Mobile Friendly Test:- This is a free tool provided by Google which helps you in determining whether your mobile webpage is mobile friendly or not. Very useful if you are having dynamic or responsive design for Mobile site.
