Does blog on the home page increase SEO?

A blog itself probably doesn’t. What does help, though, is the content. And not just any content. 10x content.
Basically, it means your content should be 10 times better than what anyone else
has. Rand Fishkin introduced the following criteria  [1] :
  • It has to have great UI and UX on any device.
  • That content is generally a combination of high quality, trustworthy, it's useful, interesting, and remarkable. It doesn't have to be all of those but some combination of them.
  • It's got to be considerably different in scope and in detail from other works that are serving the same visitor or user intent.
  • It's got to create an emotional response. I want to feel awe. I want to feel surprise. I want to feel joy, anticipation, or admiration for that piece of content in order for it to be considered 10x.
  • It has to solve a problem or answer a question by providing that comprehensive, accurate, exceptional information or resources.
  • It's got to deliver content in a unique, remarkable, typically unexpectedly pleasurable style or medium.
Besides, just having even the greatest content is not enough anymore. Think about it, 4.6 billion pieces of content are produced daily, every day there are around 92,000 new articles [2] are posted on the internet. And most of them are good, a lot of them are great.
Because of this your job is to ensure that your great content reaches the right people [3] . The secret to this is, as Ross Simmonds points out, is D.R.E.A.M.Distribution Rules Everything Around Me.
Here are the 5 steps to start building a quality distribution network:
  • Build relationships with people who have slightly larger followings and networks than you do.
  • Start looking for channels you can publish your content on that will give you credibility. Look for channels that will syndicate your content out to larger audiences and look for guest blogging opportunities.
  • Hustle. Submit your own links to channels linke Inbound.org, HeckerNews and Reddit.
  • Send out newsletters with your content. Email isn’t dead. It’s just different.
  • Don’t be afraid to message people directly and ask them to share or give feedback on something you’ve created.
To summirize, no some blogging won’t help SEO. Good, professional, exciting content on your blog with effective distibution certainly will! Good luck;-)
